Job Description

We are partnering with a dynamic, fast-growing business based in North Wales to recruit an Interim Financial Controller for a 9-month fixed-term contract.

Backed by ambitious leadership and a clear growth strategy, the business has expanded significantly in recent years and continues to evolve its operations and systems.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on, commercially aware finance professional to join a collaborative leadership team and play a key role in supporting the business during an important period.

The Role

Reporting to the Finance Director and working within a small but capable finance team, the Interim Financial Controller will take ownership of the organisation’s accounting processes, controls, and financial reporting.

This is a broad SME role, ideal for someone who enjoys variety and working closely with different areas of the business.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing monthly close processes and reviewing financial results before finalisation

  • Producing monthly reporting including Group P&L, Balance Sheet and Cashflow

  • Supporting the preparation of board reporting packs

  • Managing and reviewing statutory accounts preparation

  • Leading the external audit process and corporation tax compliance

  • Reviewing quarterly VAT returns

  • Ensuring robust financial controls and best practice accounting processes

  • Providing technical accounting guidance on areas such as VAT, corporation tax, transaction flows, and new commercial arrangements

  • Supporting and mentoring members of the finance team

  • Assisting the Finance Director with technical accounting matters, projects and strategic initiatives

  • Working collaboratively with teams across Operations, HR, IT and Commercial functions


The Person

We are looking for a qualified accountant who enjoys working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and is comfortable taking ownership of a broad finance remit.

Ideal experience includes:

  • ACA / ACCA qualified (or equivalent) ideally

  • Solid post-qualification experience

  • Background in practice and/or industry

  • Strong understanding of financial controls and accounting best practice

  • Experience preparing statutory accounts and managing audits

  • Ability to identify financial or compliance risks within new business arrangements

  • Comfortable working within a small finance team in an SME environment


Working Arrangements

  • Hybrid working – typically 3 days office / 2 days home

  • Flexible working arrangements considered for the right candidate (including reduced/condensed hours or part-time)

  • 9-month fixed term contract initially

  • Ideally starting April
