An established and growing business is looking for an experienced Assistant Accountant / Senior Finance Officer to join its head-office finance team.

Based in Denbighshire and commutable from Denbigh, Ruthin, Mold, and St. Asaph, this is a broad, hands-on role covering management accounts, month-end reporting, cash flow, banking and ledger control across several group companies. You’ll take ownership of your workload, investigate issues and deliver accurate financial information with limited supervision.

Key responsibilities

  • Preparing monthly management accounts and supporting schedules

  • Completing reconciliations, accruals, prepayments and journals

  • Analysing performance against budgets, forecasts and previous periods

  • Managing Direct Debit and recurring card-payment collections

  • Maintaining the sales ledger and reviewing aged debt

  • Managing banking, cash positioning and bank reconciliations

  • Preparing supplier payment runs and processing customer refunds

  • Maintaining short-term cash-flow forecasts

  • Reconciling intercompany balances, fixed assets and hire-purchase commitments

  • Preparing financial analysis, site costings and budget information

  • Supporting year-end reporting and the external audit

  • Identifying and implementing improvements to financial controls and processes


About you

You will be an experienced finance professional who is comfortable taking ownership and working to deadlines. You may be qualified, part-qualified (AAT/CIMA/ACCA) or qualified by experience.

You will ideally have:

  • Management accounts and month-end experience

  • Strong reconciliation and ledger-control skills

  • Experience working across multiple companies or cost centres

  • Good Excel skills

  • Experience using Sage or a similar accounting system

  • Strong attention to detail and a practical approach to problem-solving

  • The confidence to investigate issues and communicate your findings clearly
